800K Views for Rapido: How a 60-Second Reel Told a City's Story

The Rapido collaboration that hit 800,000 views was not really about bike taxis. It was about Ahmedabad — its traffic, its pace, and its people. Here is how that one reel came together.

Every city has its own relationship with traffic. In Mumbai, it is resigned acceptance. In Bangalore, it is existential despair. In Ahmedabad, it is dark comedy — and that is exactly where the Rapido reel found its opening.

The brief from Rapido was straightforward: introduce the service to Ahmedabad's young audience, drive app downloads, make it shareable. What it needed was a local insight — something true about how people in this city actually experience commuting, not a generic 'beat the traffic' message.

The reel opened with a situation immediately recognisable to any Amdavadi: someone dressed up for an event, stuck behind a laari (street vendor's cart) that has inexplicably chosen the worst possible spot. The frustration, the resigned sigh, the half-smile — it is a micro-performance that required exactly zero explanation for anyone who has lived in Ahmedabad.

Rapido arrives not as a solution to a problem but as a friend who gets it. That distinction — from solution-provider to fellow sufferer who found a better way — is what separates a brand mention from a brand endorsement. The audience did not feel sold to. They felt seen.

The 800K+ views came from an unusually high share rate — people were tagging friends with 'this is us every Tuesday.' Brand content that gets shared without the brand being the point is the highest form of influencer marketing. It means the content succeeded as content first, and as advertising second.

Rapido's Ahmedabad market penetration grew in the weeks after the reel. The correlation is not precise — attribution in influencer marketing rarely is — but the numbers moved in the right direction. More importantly, the brand had a piece of content it could point to and say: this is what we are in this city.
